Projo.com named “Best Overall Site” in New England for two years running

Providence, RI — April 29, 2004 For the second year in a row, projo.com, the Web site affiliated with The Providence Journal, was named “Best Overall Site” in New England for Web sites affiliated with newspapers with daily circulation over 40,000 by the New England Associated Press News Executive Association (NEAPNEA.)

In addition to being named “Best Overall Site,” projo.com received first place awards in three other categories, including “Engagement,” “Best Public Service” and “Best Entertainment Section.”

The “Engagement” honors went to projo.com for its special section, Tribute to Our Troops, www.projo.com/extra/terror/tribute/, which was created to facilitate interaction between projo.com readers and their loved ones stationed abroad in Iraq and beyond.

In the category of “Best Public Service,” http://www.projo.com/extra/2003/stationfire/, which honored the delivery of information that improves the quality of the users’ lives, projo.com won for its breaking and ongoing news updates on the fatal fire at The Station nightclub in West Warwick, Rhode Island.

Projo.com’s Your Life section, http://www.projo.com/yourlife/, won “Best Entertainment Section” for its continuing presentation of information on a variety of topics that included food, health, entertainment, arts, music and movies.
