Al Dia Recieves Katie Award for Best Spanish-language Newspaper in the Region

Dallas, TX – Al Dia was the recipient of three prestigious Katie awards, including the one for best Spanish-language newspaper in the region. It also won in general news and feature story categories for the work of staff writer Isabel Morales for her Desaparecidos-Cifra Trágica and Con Rostro Hispano stories. Among the finalists also were Al Dia staffers Anabel Márquez, Francisco Rodr guez and Patricia Estrada.

The Katies are awarded every year by the Dallas Press Club. During this year’s ceremony, November 5, the judges commented, “Stories in this newspaper are as good as any Spanish-language newspaper in the U.S.”

In 2004, Al Dia received three Katie awards. Since its inception, Al Dia has been recognized by industry organizations such as the National Association of Hispanic Publications, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors.
